The Club

Everyone Plays

Perrywoods United formed to provide the opportunity for youngsters, irrespective of ability to play football under the supervision of F.A. qualified coaches. They are encouraged to learn good attitude and discipline, whilst enjoying and expressing themselves playing the great game of football. We hope this will help them develop their own personality, character and respect for other people and our facilities, making them both good footballers and confident young people.

F.A Trained Coaches

There are currently 50 coaches and helpers, with coaching qualifications ranging from Level 1 to UEFA ‘B’ level.  (We also have a management committee, referees and café staff also help to keep the club running).

How it works

  • Players are split into broadly age-related leagues and then teams are formed within these leagues.
  • An attempt is made to balance these teams based on assessments of the players.
  • The idea is that players start in the pups and graduate through the different leagues, playing on larger pitches with more players.

What ages can play

Before the leagues, players are in the pups (up to year 2), moving into minis in years 3 and 4, midis in years 5 and 6 and maxis in years 7 and 8.

Why we do it

Multi-League was a pioneer in that youngsters are introduced gradually to football, in small-sided games, then graduate to 11-a-side as teenagers in the Youth Section.

The small-sided game enables young players to :

  • Get plenty of ball contact
  • Develop ball techniques
  • Get closer to play
  • Develop confidence and concentration
  • Get fit and have fun
  • Score more goals!

FAQs

Which league will my child be in?

Generally, players are allocated to a league based on their school year.  However, some players can play in leagues not associated with their year group if this is deemed appropriate.

  • Minis –  years 3 & 4,
  • Midis – years 5 & 6
  • Maxis – years 7 & 8.

What do you mean by Multi-league?

This is a system developed by Perrywoods to promote inclusive football for kids. The players are split into age groups and then into teams which we try and balance according to ability. These teams then play each other during the season in a round-robin of friendly and cup matches.

This means that in any season there can be upwards of 200 players within the Perrywoods Multi-league system. The idea is that all players take part in competitive games of football every week, regardless of ability. Players are played in different positions rather than being labelled as defender, strikers, goalies etc.
